Candor Trucking is a dry van dispatch service for owner-operators and small fleets across the USA. We find and negotiate dry van loads, push for detention and TONU on every rate con, and screen brokers. You pay 5%–11% of gross per completed load with no setup fees. You approve every load.
What does a dry van dispatch service do?
A dry van dispatch service finds your loads, negotiates the rate and handles the paperwork, so you can keep driving. Your dispatcher works for you, under your authority as an independent owner-operator.
Candor Trucking is an independent, virtual dispatch agency, not a freight broker and not a motor carrier. You run under your own MC/DOT authority, insurance and safety rating.
Open deck (flatbed, step deck, conestoga and hotshot) is our specialty, alongside our full lineup of truck dispatching services by equipment. Dry van, reefer and box truck get the same fee model, the same accessorial push and the same broker screening. You reach us by phone or email.
What does dry van dispatching with Candor Trucking include?
We handle the load side. You keep your authority, your decisions and your money.
- Equipment intake: trailer length, payload, preferred lanes and rate minimum submitted through our carrier intake form.
- Load finding matched to your trailer and lanes.
- Rate negotiation. We push, you decide.
- Accessorials: we push for detention, TONU and layover on the rate con before you roll.
- Broker credit screening and broker packets.
- Rate con review and check calls.
- Detention and TONU tracking.
- Billing packets: signed BOL, rate con and invoice, ready for factoring or direct invoicing.
No forced dispatch: you approve every load, rate con and route. Terms live in a written Carrier Dispatch Agreement with zero setup or cancellation fees. See how onboarding unfolds on our how dispatch works page.
What lanes and freight does a dry van dispatcher book?
A dry van dispatcher books enclosed freight on the lanes you choose. You tell us where you want to run, where you won't, and what your rate minimum is.
Dry van usually hauls palletized and boxed freight: consumer goods, packaged food, retail merchandise and packaging.
Whether you are comparing a dedicated dispatch service vs load board self-booking or running contract lanes, we build the week around your chosen freight corridors. Some drivers want short regional runs that get them home, while others want long-haul triangles.
We don't promise a rate per mile, a weekly gross or a load count. Rates move with the market. Explore our carrier case studies to see how disciplined booking protects revenue across rate cycles.
Dock reality: appointments, live loads, lumpers, drop and hook
A live load holds your truck until the dock finishes loading or unloading. Drop and hook gets you in and out fast. Miss your appointment window and the dock may push you to the back of the line.
That's why we push for detention, TONU and layover on the rate con before dispatch. Lumper fees are the other dock cost. Ask about them before you book, and get any reimbursement in writing.
How are detention, TONU and layover handled?
Candor Trucking pushes for detention, TONU and layover pay on every rate con before you dispatch, so the terms are in writing before the truck moves. The amounts follow each broker's rate con terms, and Candor retains $0 of accessorial pay. Review our transparent terms in our accessorial and fee schedule.
| Term | What Candor Trucking does |
|---|---|
| Detention | Pushes for detention pay on the rate con, then tracks your timestamped in and out times |
| TONU (truck ordered, not used) | Pushes for a TONU fee in case the load is canceled after you are dispatched |
| Layover | Pushes for layover pay when a load can't move on schedule |
| Lumper | Asks about lumper fees before booking and gets any reimbursement in writing |
Get your in and out times stamped on the BOL every time. We track the clock and the paperwork and press the broker for pay.
How does Candor Trucking screen brokers?
We screen every broker before we book, and a broker has to pass three checks.
- A credit score of 90 or higher, checked on DAT One and Truckstop.
- Payment within 30 days.
- A valid freight broker bond (BMC-84).
The bond check matters because federal rules require every freight broker to carry $75,000 in financial security, filed as a BMC-84 surety bond or a BMC-85 trust fund. Under the FMCSA broker financial responsibility rule, FMCSA can suspend a broker's authority if that security drops below $75,000.
How do fees work, and who pays you?
You pay 5%–11% of gross per completed load, depending on equipment, and brokers pay you directly. We never touch freight payments. Review our full tier breakdown on the truck dispatch pricing page.
No setup fees, no retainers and no subscriptions. We only get paid when a load completes. Nothing is owed in weeks your truck does not roll.
Example, not a quote: on a hypothetical $2,000 load, 5% is $100 and 11% is $220.
Brokers pay your bank account or your factoring company directly by QuickPay, ACH or factoring. You see the original broker rate con and keep full billing authority. See how billing packets flow on our dispatch workflow guide.

Who is dry van dispatch for?
Dry van dispatch fits owner-operators and small fleets of 1–20 trucks that run on their own authority and want hard negotiation without forced loads.
A good fit if you:
- Run your own MC/DOT authority with a dry van, reefer, box truck or open-deck trailer.
- Want to see every rate con before you commit.
- Want detention, TONU and layover on paper, not promised on a phone call.
Not a fit if you:
- Want a company that owns the freight or the trailer.
- Want loads assigned to you with no say.
- Want a promised weekly gross.
How do you start with Candor Trucking?
Starting takes three steps, and you can cancel anytime without penalty.
- Send your setup details. Submit your equipment and preferred lanes on our carrier intake form, or call (945) 281-1045 Monday to Saturday, 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Time. Phone calls are in English.

Candor Trucking launched in 2026, so we don't publish ratings or reviews. Read the agreement, ask us anything, and judge us on your first rate con.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a dry van dispatcher do?
A dry van dispatcher books your loads and handles the back-and-forth with brokers: finding freight for your trailer, negotiating the rate, sending your packet, running check calls and building the billing packet. Candor Trucking does all of that under your authority. Nothing books until you approve the rate con and the route. Read more about each step on our dispatch workflow page.
How much does Candor Trucking charge for dry van dispatch?
Candor Trucking takes 5%–11% of gross per completed load, depending on equipment. There's no setup fee, no retainer and no subscription, and no fee on a load that doesn't complete. Brokers pay you directly, so freight money never runs through us. See our complete truck dispatch fee schedule.
Do you force me to take loads?
No. No forced dispatch means you approve every load, rate con and route before it books. If a load doesn't fit, say no and we keep looking. You're also not locked in: there's no long-term contract, and you can cancel anytime without penalty. Candor Trucking works for you, not the broker.
Do I need my own authority, and are you a broker?
Yes, you need your own MC/DOT authority, insurance and safety rating. And no, Candor Trucking is not a freight broker or a motor carrier. We're an independent, virtual dispatch agency that books freight for you under a written dispatch agreement, and you approve every load.
Who pays me, and do you touch my money?
Brokers pay your bank account or your factoring company directly, by QuickPay, ACH or factoring. Candor Trucking never handles freight payments. You also see the original broker rate con, so you read the terms exactly as the broker wrote them. You keep full billing authority.
How do you handle detention and TONU on dry van loads?
Candor Trucking pushes for detention, TONU and layover pay on the rate con before you roll, at the amounts in each broker's terms. Then we track your timestamped BOLs and chase the broker for pay. Get your in and out times stamped every time.
Do you dispatch anything besides dry van?
Yes. We also dispatch reefer, box truck and open deck (flatbed, step deck, conestoga and hotshot). Every equipment type gets the same fee model, the same accessorial push, the same broker screening and the same no-forced-dispatch rule. Compare all options on our equipment dispatch services page.
Do you offer Spanish support?
Yes, in writing. Candor Trucking supports Spanish by email and WhatsApp. Write to us at dispatch@candortrucking.com. Phone calls are in English, on our dispatch line Monday to Saturday, 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Time.
